Day 1: Colombo
Arrival in Colombo. This afternoon you explore Colombo visiting the colonial “Fort” as well as the local markets, residential areas and religious sites of this intriguing capital city.

Day 2: Colombo – Sigiriya
Travel to Sigiriya via Pinnawela where you will visit the famous Elephant Orphanage, a conservation project for orphaned and injured elephants. You will be able to see the little jumbos being fed and bathed in the nearby river. Continue your journey to Sigiriya.

Day 3: Sigriya
Today you climb the 5th century citadel of Sigiriya which is one of the 7 UNESCO world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Built by king Kassyapa, Sigiriya was a 70 hectare fortified city with moats ramparts and gardens. In Sri Lanka it is considered the 8th wonder of the world. Later you visit Polonnaruwa a world heritage site which was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka built in the 11th and 12th centuries AD.

Day 4: Sigiriya – Dambulla
After breakfast proceed to Dambulla, yet another UNESCO world heritage site and visit the ancient rock temple adorned with hundreds of rock paintings of the Buddha and many kings and deities. Continue to Kandy and later enjoy a city tour of this lakeside UNESCO world heritage city.
In the evening you will visit the “Temple of the Tooth”, the holiest Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka where the tooth relic of the lord Buddha is believed to be enshrined followed by spectacular a Kandyan cultural dance performance.
Day 5: Kandy – Hatton
Travel to Hatton today via a picturesque drive on winding mountain roads through the tea plantations of the beautiful hill country.

Time to explore this unique region, visit a tea plantation and enjoy the cooler temperatures here.
